Your consultation will cover:
A "typical" course of general therapy is seven to twelve sessions. Sex addiction, trauma, and infidelity counseling rarely qualify as general counseling. Because of the complex issues that we work with, therapy with us often takes longer (but not always).
That said, we offer packages and subscriptions that fit all budgets, and may be able to offer a scholarship in some situations.
The potential cost of not doing therapy may be far greater than the cost of therapy.
Maintaining the status quo may have the following costs.
We are out of network with all insurance providers. Check with your insurance provider or with Better.co to find out what your out of network benefits are.
If you want your insurance to pay you back for our services, we provide a "superbill" (a special receipt for healthcare services). We recommend using Better.co to help shorten the time to get paid back.
We cannot influence whether your insurance will pay you back at all, or how much they will pay you back.
We specialize in treating sex addiction, trauma, and infidelity. Insurance companies typically do not pay for treatment for sex addiction or infidelity. Some might, but there is no way to know which ones, and how many sessions are covered (usually fewer than is needed).
Most insurances are now paying for trauma treatment for Post Traumatic Stress. However, experiences of relational trauma or complex trauma do not always qualify for the label of Post Traumatic Stress.
Insurance billing is also an inefficient, expensive task. By being out of network, we get to invest more of our time and energy into helping our clients.
While sex addiction, trauma, and infidelity are the main issues that we treat, they often overlap with other mental health issues (especially depression or substance abuse). Anytime insurance companies pay for your treatment, they expect to know what issues are being treated. These issues stay on your medical record permanently.
Having depression or substance abuse in your medical record can increase your rates health insurance, life insurance, disability insurance (short-term or long-term). It can also limit your career potential in any field that requires a medical screening or prohibits the use of psychoactive medications.
We are actively working on creating ways to make therapy more affordable. Currently, our primary way of doing this is through our scholarship.
